Dolphin adventures with Islander Girls

When we signed up for the Sunset Cruise with Islander Girl Snorkeling & Tours in Islamorada we were expecting a fun evening on a catamaran cruising through the azure waters of the ocean and bay sides in the Florida Keys. We were promised two hours of fun with the rum punch flowing and tasty appetizers from the Islander Resort's popular kitchen. What we experienced was a once-in-a-lifetime thrill of seeing a pod of dolphins cavort in the water right next to our boat as the sun was setting. We had already enjoyed several glasses of delicious rum punch and our fill of chicken wings, sandwiches, conch fritters and shrimp tacos. Sky, our captain, is an Islamorada native who owns the all-female company. She can be heard on the video and is as excited by the dolphins as the passengers were. Her assistant Hannah started shooting videos as well and we were thrilled to share such a unique evening with them.

The pink cooler and gear are symbolic of the all-women crew.

We had already taken a two-hour snorkel trip with the same crew and were very impressed with their friendliness and professionalism. They take safety seriously in these Covid times and are operating at 50 percent capacity to allow plenty of space between passengers. They served all the food and drinks themselves and were meticulous about scrubbing down the boat between cruises.

There is lots to see underwater in the Florida Keys.

If you look closely, you can spot the baby sea turtle we saw while snorkeling.
